Relationships
Invest in the people who make your life rich.
Relationships covers the people closest to you: your partner, family, friends, and community. The OLV Assessment looks at two signs of strong connection.
The first is focused, phone-down time with someone you love, such as a real conversation, a meal together, or a walk. The second is your support circle: how many people would show up for you tonight, no questions asked.
Why it matters
A review of 148 studies with more than 300,000 people found that people with stronger social relationships had a 50% greater likelihood of survival over the study periods.
About 1 in 2 U.S. adults reported experiencing loneliness, even before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Quick self-check
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with your Relationships right now?
- In the last 7 days, how many days did you spend focused, phone-down time with someone you love?
- If you needed help tonight, how many people could you call?
If you had phone-down time on 3 days or fewer, or you could call 2 people or fewer, start with the quick wins below.
