Productivity
Win the day by finishing what matters most.
Productivity is about how well your days run: your focus, your follow-through, and getting the important things done. The OLV Assessment tracks two habits that make the biggest difference.
The first is finishing your most important task of the day, the one thing that would make the day a win. The second is planning your week before it starts. Planning can be 10 minutes with a notebook, a calendar, or an app.
Why it matters
A review of 94 studies with more than 8,000 people found that if-then plans, which spell out when, where, and how you'll act, had a medium-to-large effect on reaching goals. Your OLV 90-Day Game Plan is built on this method.
68% of people in Microsoft's survey of 31,000 workers said they don't have enough uninterrupted focus time during the workday.
Quick self-check
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with your Productivity right now?
- In a typical week, how many days do you finish your most important task of the day?
- How often do you plan your week before it starts?
If you finish your top task on fewer than 4 days, or you plan most weeks on the fly, start with the quick wins below.
Ideas to level up
Quick wins (this week)
- Pick tomorrow's most important task tonight and write it on a sticky note.
- Block 90 minutes of focus time on 3 mornings this week and put your phone in another room.
- Spend 10 minutes on Sunday planning your week: your top 3 results, key appointments, and workouts.
90-day moves
- Plan your week every Sunday for 13 weeks in a row and track your streak.
- Use Tony Robbins' RPM method: write the result you want and why it matters, then list the actions.
- Write 3 if-then plans for your biggest distractions. Example: If I reach for my phone during focus time, then I'll put it in a drawer.
- Batch email and messages into 2 or 3 set times a day.
Big-vision goals
- Build your own simple system: one calendar, one task list, and one weekly review.
- Free up 5 hours a week by automating, delegating, or dropping low-value tasks.
Sample SMART goals
- Plan my week every Sunday night for the whole year.
- Finish my most important task before noon at least 4 days a week for the next 8 weeks.
- Hold three 90-minute focus blocks a week through March 31 and log what I finish in each one.
